In October 2022, on my third wedding anniversary, I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 39. Every doctor along the way told me it was probably nothing but it turned out to be something.
Given that 1 in 8 women will face a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime and the rising rates among younger women, perhaps it shouldn’t have been such a shock.
Since my diagnosis, I've had two surgeries, a bad infection, 26 rounds of radiation and ongoing endocrine therapy. Luckily, the prognosis is good and I'm excited to find ways to contribute to a vibrant community of breast cancer survivors and thrivers.
In August 2023, my team and I completed the New England 3 day challenge where we walked 60 miles and we're excited to do it again in San Diego! Join our team or support us if you're able.
It will be another incredible challenge, but not as hard as breast cancer. And I have already learned that we can do tough things and sometimes surprise ourselves!
