Achilles was the greatest of the Greek warriors, so it's more than a bit ironic that an Achilles injury has kept me off the route for some time. It's said that Achilles' mother held him by the heel and dunked him in the River Styx to make him invulnerable. Unfortunately, his heel wasn't touched by the water and so "Achilles' heel" became a vulnerable spot. Not ironically, when it hurts, it hurts like hell.
But through a variety of therapies, I'm on the road to recovery and ready to tackle San Diego this November. Between Covid and injuries, it's been a couple of years.
In the intervening years, two friends have been diagnosed with breast cancer, and I'm happy to say they too, are on the road to recovery.
Can I count on you to cushion my dumb Achilles tendon with a donation to my 3-Day Walk? I'm creeping closer to the $100K mark in personal fundraising. Will this be the year I get there? Help me out by asking a friend to join our journey. Together, we're going to change the world. Thanks.
