Please support me as I commit to an incredible challenge. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. It will be hard, but it’s not as hard as breast cancer. It’s not as hard as chemo. It’s not as hard as getting bad news at your latest scan. It’s not as hard as saying goodbye. And that’s why I know I have to do this. That’s why I commit. That’s why I’m walking and why I’m raising money – to end breast cancer forever.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer while living in Tennessee in 2018, I had a left lumpectomy, chemo and radiation treatments, then Tamoxifen was on board for 4 years. At my 4th annual check up with surgeon and medical oncologist I knew something was not right because I had developed a painful mass in my left breast. I put it off since I knew I had an upcoming appointment. The standard tests of mammogram, ultrasound, CT scan and ultrasound guided breast biopsy were preformed but the news was not good. I had developed the rare secondary angiosarcoma of my left breast due to the radiation. I felt like my head was spinning with all the tests and doctor's appointments, in disbelief that this was happening to me again. Presently I live in SW Florida so I have a new team of cancer care providers and am so pleased with my current treatment. On March 20, 2023 I had a left breast mastectomy and am now recovering and waiting for appointments to be seen by medical oncology for the next step in treatment.
I have been married to my dear sweet heart, Todd for 40 years this July and we have 5 freaking amazing adult children, all with full and amazing lives. The icing on the cake is our 9 beautiful and loving grandchildren who loving call me Nee or Neema.
I have a lot of life to live, I am a fighter and will beat this cancer. I am loved by many and I am thankful for every day because every Reimer knows this..
" EVERY DAY IS A SPECIAL DAY"
I am so inspired, and loved by our team leader and my yogi sister who started this team. CoCo has not only one friend but two friends named Renee and we both are breast cancer survivors hence our team name:
"CooCoo4CoCo'sRenees"
I want to continue to remain healthy in my mind, body and spirit. I look forward to spending 3 days in Boston with like minded people. I will participate in the 20 mile walk on Sunday.
Please support my team to fund breast cancer research and treatments. We will be participating in the New England 3-day in Boston August 18-20, 2023
Music speaks to my heart so I would like to share the lyrics by Melissa Etheridge from her song I run for Life
"I run for hope
I run to feel
I run for the truth, for all that is real
I run for your mother, your sister, your daughter, your wife
For you and me my friend
I run for life"
Peace and Love
Renee aka Nee
