Hi friends. The Boobylicious walk team is back again trekking across the country, 60 miles in 3 days, and raising money in an effort to eradicate breast cancer in our lifetime.
Most of you know the depth of my dedication to this cause, as I have been involved in either the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer or the Komen 3-Day Walk every year since 2008. And, like me, I’m sure you’re very familiar with the statistics: early detection saves lives, get your yearly mammogram every year, and 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am an incredibly private person. So, you might not know that, at about this time last year, I became that 1 in 8 women. Thankfully, I was getting my mammograms yearly, and it was detected super early. I had surgery, went through a month of radiation, and got the all-clear just this past December. It was a super scary experience. However, if I had to have breast cancer, this was the best kind to have. It was contained to one area, it was non-invasive, it was stage zero, and it has a great longevity prognosis. My entire team at Calvert Breast Cancer Center was absolutely amazing, and they continue to follow up with me to make sure I am still on the path to a full recovery.
Enough about me :-) Let’s talk about what YOU can do……. On this page you will find the link to donate to our team which consists of Cherith Reidenbaker, Jesse Boykin, Christie Deighan, and myself. Obviously I’d like you to donate to me, but if I have reached my goal of $2,300, please consider donating to someone on my team who has not yet reached their goal. It all goes to the same place!!
We are also running our GINORMOUS yard sale Mother’s Day Weekend at my house in Town Creek. Come on by and see what amazing treasures we have. Every single penny we raise at that yard sale also goes towards our Komen 3-Day Walk.
Thank you for reading all the way to the bottom of this letter. Even if you can’t donate at this time, at least schedule your yearly mammogram, or encourage a mammogram for your wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, best friend, neighbor, postal worker, bartender, 1st baseman, teacher, running partner, or anyone else you want to see live a long, healthy life.
