Hello, Friends and Family!
Please support me as I prepare to walk in my 4th Susan G. Komen 3-Day® in October. This isn’t just a 60-mile walk over the course of three days—it’s an incredible journey in a fight to end breast cancer!
I participated in this event for the first time in 2019, walking on just the last day, for about 20 miles in Dallas. I thought that was a great experience, but I didn’t realize until walking the full 60 miles in San Diego in 2021 just how truly awesome the pink bubble really is. I walked 60 miles in Boston last year, and I am so looking forward to being back in Dallas/Fort Worth to walk the full 60 miles in 3 days this time!
This cause has always been close to my heart, as my Nana is a 31-year breast cancer survivor, and my Aunt Rae lost her 2-year battle with metastatic breast cancer in 2017. But, last year it hit even closer to home, as my Mom was diagnosed 10 days before the walk in Boston. Thankfully, with early detection and treatment – and no doubt, some results of Komen research – she is doing great and plans to stay a survivor. Over many years of participating in this event, my aunt walked 360+ miles, and my mom will surpass that this year with 420, since this is her 7th walk. She joined my aunt’s team, “Keeping Abreast,” for the first time in 2016 and was blessed to be able to walk with her sister in what was sadly her last walk. We all continue to walk and raise money to find a cure so that no one else ever has to be moved from the "In Honor of" category to "In Memory."
I hope you’ll share this amazing adventure with me by supporting me in my fundraising efforts. I need to raise a minimum of $2,300, and even the smallest donations add up and make a big difference, so any support you can give will be greatly appreciated. If you are able to help with this important cause, just choose Donate Now and follow the simple instructions. Your donation can help find a cure. Your donation could help a loved one survive. We are in this fight to end breast cancer together!
I am participating in honor of all survivors, in support of all those currently fighting, in memory of those who have lost their battle, and with high hopes that someday this devastating disease will not exist.
Regardless of whether you are able to donate, please feel free to share with me the name(s) of anyone you know who has fought, is fighting or has lost this battle, and we will be happy to carry their names as we walk in their honor, support and memory. Our mission is to continue walking and raising money to find a cure, so that someday we will add no more names to that list!
Find strength. Find purpose. Find hope. Find a cure. Together we will change the world! And we will never give up!
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
Sincerely,
Michelle
