That's all the time I had with my sister Cindy, from the time she was diagnosed with breast cancer until the time we lost her. That sharp back pain was metastatic breast cancer in her spine. She had been my rock. She supported me in 2010 when I myself was diagnosed with breast cancer and she walked alongside me through my mastectomy and treatments. I was in shock when she told me. That was October 2017 just before the Dallas 3Day.
I still miss her everyday and still need to be in a Community of people who can help me keep putting one foot in front of the other. I need to feel the presence of the Pink Bubble more than ever. and need to tell Cindy's story.
Her story is that she held 2 jobs and was too busy taking care of other stuff, the bills and everything else that she didn't get her own mammogram. Is anyone else guilty of that? "Too busy" to schedule the mammogram that might save your life?
I'm not going to say it's been easy. I've battled depression and other medical issues. But here's the good news - I'm not alone. I have a Community of support that includes my husband Mark, my son Bennet and extended family. My friends have encouraged me, my medical team keeps a close eye on me and I get screened regularly without fail. I will not quick and continue to be a part of Team STEPS. Now I am a stronger survivor and an advocate to EVERY woman who will listen.
I am super excited this year to be a part a Hotel Crew member and support my team and the other walkers another way.
My name is Jessie Miller I support the 3Day to encourage awareness, education and early detection in my community and beyond.
