Here we go again…
In 2005 I walked my first 3 Day. I had lost my friend, Barbara, in 2004 and felt a need to do this in her (and many others’) memory/honor. I walked again in 2007 and 2008 and in 2010 I walked 60 miles for the 4th time, and promised myself I would do it again before I turned 50. I turned 50 in 2018 and did not make good on that promise.
Until NOW. In February I had breast reduction surgery. I was tired of these ginormous things and after a friend had the surgery with great results I decided I’d do it too! Turns out that surgery probably saved my life. Long story short, they found cancer in the tissue they removed… more tests… MORE tests… and in June I had a double mastectomy. Boobs gone, cancer gone!
I want to prevent this from happening to anyone else!! A cure needs to be found!
Luke said a few months ago “We should do the 3-day this year”. I said maybe next year… and now we’re registered to walk in New England next August! I have some great friends & family joining me along the way, but we need your help!
Please support me as I commit to an incredible challenge for the 5th time. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. It will be hard, but it’s not as hard as breast cancer. It’s not as hard as chemo. It’s not as hard as getting bad news at your latest scan. It’s not as hard as saying goodbye. And that’s why I know I have to do this. That’s why I’m walking and why I’m raising money – to end breast cancer forever.
