My Reasons for Walking

I am walking for a few reasons, the first reason is for my Aunt Joan who lost her life to breast cancer as a young woman. She was a beautiful woman, mother, aunt, and friend with 3 children she left behind, and grandchildren that will never have the chance to know her. Cancer stole her life.

I am also walking for all women and men who have been and will be diagnosed with breast cancer. During the past year of being involved in this event I have heard so many heart-wrenching stories of the struggles of people who are and have battled this disease; some I know personally, some I don't; but all heart-wrenching stories none-the-less.

Another reason is for my best friend, who will also be walking for a 2nd year. She had a terrible scare 2 years ago, we are so thankful it was only a scare.

My final reason for walking is because I can, at the time of the walk in 2010 I could barely walk, especially not long distances. I am still recovering from a back injury from a car accident and am truly blessed, proud, and so excited to capable to be a part of this amazing event for a 2nd year!!
