I care very much about the fight against breast cancer.
Is it because I've lost family members? No.
Is it because I've lost close friends? Or co-workers? No, and no.
I walk because I want to do something that matters.
When I started taking part in the Susan G Komen 3-Day in 2008, I didn't elect to participate because of a close personal connection. I wanted to get off my butt and start doing something with my life, something that could make a difference.
Since 2008 I have walked in 19 Susan G. Komen 3-Day walks -- sixty miles, three days, each time -- and I've served as a member of the all-volunteer event support crew 11 times. I've raised over $50,000 in donations along the way. But I've also met hundreds of women (and some men) fighting for their lives, brave souls who've taught me that my own little personal issues and daily annoyances are really, really trivial compared to what they have to go through just to see their next birthday.
Some of them haven't made it.
I miss them so much.
Please sponsor me for the 2021 Chicago Susan G. Komen 3-Day. (It was going to be the 2020 Chicago 3-Day, but due to Covid-19, it's been rescheduled for 2021.) In order to take part in the walk, I have to raise a minimum of $2,300. You can donate at the link here on my page, and if you do, I'd be very grateful.
If you are unable to donate online, please print out a donation form.
