The Breast Cancer 3-Day
|
I left my Heart in San Francisco
Several years ago I decided that one thing I could do, so be it small, in support of finding a cure and raising awareness, would be to participate in the Breast Cancer 3-Day 60 mile walk. In Minnesota the kids and I volunteered at the 2005 & 2006 Twin Cities events. In 2007, I walked in San Diego and 2008 in San Francisco. This will be my 2nd consecutive year to walk in San Francisco during the first weekend in October. This year in support and honor of all our loved ones affected by this disease, I will be walking on behalf of my very good friend Lisa. Lisa has been courageously fighting Breast Cancer for the last year going through the trials and tribulations of this life changing event documenting her experiences via the internet at http://mylifeina.tumblr.com/. Please feel free to go read and follow her blog. You will understand why this is personal to all of us and why I do this. I know it will be a memorable 3 days filled with laughter, tears, sore muscles and perhaps blisters but I also know the purpose of being there. Those battling cancer along with Lisa's strength and determination to rid of this disease are truly my inspiration and motivation to keep walking for a cure.
In addition to fighting this disease it is incredible the battle that one and their family goes through with the management of appointments, decisions to be made, dealing with the politics of insurance and medical professionals, to name only a few of the hurdles that are faced.
Earlier this year I had the need for the screening processes that are necessary with early detection and breast health. Through the uses technology with a Mammogram, Ultrasound and MRI my Doctor found 2 small masses that were surgically removed. Fortunately the results came back benign!
Unfortunately that is not always the results for other women.
I invite you to be part of my "Lisa's Loonies" team and support me as I take an amazing journey in the fight against Breast Cancer! Part of my commitment is to raise a minimum of $2500.00 from friends and family like you. Please consider a donation of any size as every dollar helps and is greatly needed and appreciated!
Words can’t say thank you enough! Without your support along with the money we have raised together, we are helping the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund funding important breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment. Some day we can look forward to a world without Breast Cancer!
I personally and sincerely want to thank you in advance for your support and I look forward to reaching that finish line with all of you by my side!
Thank you for your continued support and blessings! Jen

Lots of changes......Training is going well! We have formed a new team.....Lisa's Loonies! I am so proud to walk in honor of Lisa along with my new Teammates, Claire and Paulene. Hey all! I know the first day of spring isn't until 3/20, but I wanted to get things started on a sunny note! Training officially begins on 4/18/09 for San Francisco, but with the sunny weather we have had lately, it sure makes it easier to start earlier!
This is my first attempt at a blog, so please be patient while I get used to what to write! :-) If you would like me to add any of your personal questions or comments to this, please email me and I would be more than happy to do so! I promise to update this periodically so you can be part of the team in training!
If you are interested in joining the Pink Cosmos Team and want to walk in San Francisco or San Diego, let me know. I would be happy to answer any questions. :-)
Thank you again for your support and positive encouragement!
Until next time........Jen
