You read that right. This Old Lady Walking is signed up for 3-Day Walk #13.
Back in 2003, my main goal was completing all 60 miles. If you would have told me I would still be walking in 2016, I would have laughed at the thought. But here I am - again. Walking 60 miles. In 3 days.
My sister, Terry, was my motivation for signing up for that 1st Walk. She had been diagnosed with breast cancer. I am happy to report she is still going strong as a survivor.
On my 1st Walk, I met some wonderful ladies who walked right into my heart. We later became the Fight Like A Girl team, and after celebrating our 10th anniversary at Lake Tahoe, we became the Pink Tahoe Ladies.
We have three breast cancer survivors on our team, as well as family and friends. I love each and every one of them. Together we walk to help find a cure for cancer. In 2015, my friend, Linda, who I have known for 40 years (I told you I was old), was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Cancer isn't done yet and neither am I.
My contributors round out my circle of support. Many of them have been with me from the 1st walk through today. Their generosity and spirit of giving humble me. I am so grateful to all of you.
As long as this 60-year-old-plus body will carry me, I am walking 60 miles in 3 days with the hope we find a cure for cancer soon. If you can donate to help me continue this journey of the heart, I would be very appreciative.
Cathy Miller, soon-to-be-13 times walker
