No Chocolate, But Still an Important Cause
When I was twelve, I quit Girl Scouts because I hated going door-to-door selling cookies. COOKIES. And here I am asking for money without handing you a box of Thin Mints in return? It's not easy for me, that's for sure... but no one ever said curing cancer was supposed to be easy.
Today I'm humbly asking you to help me raise money to find the cure for breast cancer. To this end, I will be putting one foot in front of the other for three days, 20 miles a day, in the "Breast Cancer 3-Day," a 60-mile walk through beautiful (and I hope dry) San Diego, November 21 thru 23, 2009. Net proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure and National Philanthropic Trust, funding important breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment.
Any donation, however small, will be greatly appreciated. Please support me as I do my little part in the very big fight against breast cancer... even if it doesn't involve thin, mint-flavored chocolate wafers dipped in a delicate chocolate coating.
