The Breast Cancer 3-Day - Washington DC 2008
|
Walk #1 was so much - I'm doing it again!
Another way to 'Live With Gratitude'
Hello, I'm Debra - and I'm happy to say that I haven't been diagnosed with breast cancer.
I walked in the 2008 DC 3-Day and had such an amazing time I'm going to make another go at it! In the picture I am the third one from the left in the back row with the big goofy smile - would you believe we just walked 60 miles?
I'm walking for so many reasons; to inspire and be inspired, to 'make a difference,' the camaraderie, self achievement, to participate in a healthy project, to join together with so many others toward a common goal of acheiving something really BIG and because I know this journey will be simply AMAZING! But one of the most important reasons I'm doing this walk is because I CAN!
I own a little store in Old Town Alexandria, VA called La Muse - the name literally means "a source of inspiration" - what better way to exemplify what I put my heart and soul into every day!
I am also walking for two very special people. My mom, Mary Monahan, who has been fighting a long battle with cancer that began with breast cancer & my friend, Diane O'Meally whose life was cut short in a battle that also began with breast cancer.
For these reasons and so many more I am going to join with a gazillion other women October 16-18 in Philadelphia and walk 60 miles.
Whether you can donate $1, $100 or $1000 it is so very much appreciated. Feel free to come by my store and donate in person, I'd love to meet you! 108 N Patrick St., Alexandria, VA 22314.
Would you like to walk? Join the La our team - the "Because We Can" crew! Feel free to email me at Debra@ShopLaMuse.net
MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!
The Breast Cancer 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. Net proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure and National Philanthropic Trust, funding important breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment.
