When I started this journey 16 years ago, little did I know that breast cancer would become a four letter word to me. Due to my involvement in the walk, I learned I have a family history of breast cancer. I've also watched my friends fight this disease and win while others lost. There was no rhyme or reason to it. The only commonality - they were all human.
In March of 2021, I learned that my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer, at the young age of 81. She had a choice do chemo or let cancer win. She chose to fight. I continue that fight for her with each step, just as I have for everyone I know who has been touched by this disease. I will not give up until we live in a world without breast cancer.
