I’ve committed to serving as a volunteer crew member for the September 3-day Susan G. Komen walk in Chicago, Illinois. My friend Terri will be walking, and I will be crewing the event. It will be difficult but not as devastating as breast cancer.
After retirement, I started volunteering for Sites and Insights (SAI). This non-profit organization works with cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers struggling with the emotional trauma of a cancer diagnosis. This experience has opened my eyes and my heart to the devastation of Breast Cancer. One phone call can change your life forever and throw you into a spiral of fear, anxiety, stress, and uncertainty. The next thing you know, you are fighting for your life. You are not prepared for what’s to come, nor are the people who love you. Cancer impacts everyone around you. It’s hard to find anyone who has not been touched by cancer in one way or another.
Crewing for this event is my way to help support those who are fighting Breast Cancer.
I crew for Jo Allen, Debbie Campbell, Annette Harris, Vicki Mackie, and the SAI family members with Breast Cancer.
Finding a cure for Breast Cancer goes a long way to finding a cure for other cancers as well.
I crew for Doug Hartman, Chris Hartman, Carolyn Hartman, and the others in the SAI family.
Think about life without Breast Cancer and commit to supporting me with a donation. Help us stop breast cancer in its tracks.
