Anyone who knows me knows that I do not easily ask for money, nor do I enjoy raising money. However, this is a cause that is very near and dear to me. I walked in the 2007 3-Day in Detroit to honor my aunt Fay, who later had a recurrence of breast cancer and passed away due to it. Now it is even more important as Jenny was diagnosed with stage 4 aggressive breast cancer in the early months of 2020. She walked last year in 2021, and I was so inspired by her that I promised I would join her for 2023. To note, she's doing well, and she's working hard to make sure she stays cancer free, including walking nearly every day, pilates, yoga, and weight lifting. I walk not only for her survival, but so that hopefully a cure can be found and no one will have to go through what we have with this life experience.
Please support me as I commit to an incredible challenge. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. It will be hard, but it’s not as hard as breast cancer. It’s not as hard as chemo. It’s not as hard as getting bad news at your latest scan. It’s not as hard as saying goodbye. And that’s why I know I have to do this. That’s why I commit. That’s why I’m walking and why I’m raising money – to end breast cancer forever.
