WHY I WALK
Cancer sucks
My goal is to raise $2,300 to help bring us closer to a cure. Please consider making a donation.
I continue to take on this personal challenge because of a very special person, my Mom, Josie Kelly. In 2003, my Mom lost her battle with breast cancer. During her 3-year courageous fight, I was 3,000 miles away and could not walk that difficult journey with her each day. But I walked for her and with her in spirit in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2022 and will do so again in 2023.
More recently, I have lost a very special friend, Karen Youngerman in December 2017 who courageously fought a 15-year battle with breast cancer. I met Karen at the 2015 event when I was a lone walker; she welcomed me into her family and I spent the next 4 years as part of Team Happy Feet. Our team, led by Karen's husband Stephen, will be walking in Karen's memory.
I have two very good friends that are currently fighting the fight. Cancer affects too many lives and families. Faith, hope, courage. We must find a cure
