Yes, I'm doing it again -- I signed up for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day! I had such an incredible experience doing the Komen 3-Day last year that I'm going back for more. This event isn't easy, but I promise you, I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't believe 100% that it was worth every muscle ache, blister and training walk!
The 2022 San Diego 3 day will be my 27th event since I began this journey in 2005. It seems that every year, someone that I know has just received a cancer diagnosis or is going thru treatment and this year is no different.
Earlier this week, my cousin's wife had a bilateral mastectomy. She is a 43 year old mother of two.
A fellow Groove dancer had a mastectomy in the spring and will be going in for reconstruction in the fall. Her sister was also diagnosed this summer, she will begin her treatment shortly, if it has not already started.
My uncle is awaiting a diagnosis on a possible sarcoma that was removed earlier this summer.
In order to walk this event, walker's are required to raise a minimum of $2300.00. In celebration of my 50th birthday this year, I have given myself a goal of raising $5000.00.
Since its founding in 1982, Komen has funded more than $1 billion in research and provided more than $2.3billion in funding to screening, education, treatment and psychosocial support programs serving millions of people in more than 60 countries worldwide.
If you have any questions or want to hear more about what I'm doing or want to join the pink bubble in San Diego the weekend before Thanksgiving, give me a call. Thank you for all of your support. I'm incredibly lucky to have people like you in my life!
Please consider a donation - every dollar helps!
Thank you for your support in finding a cure.
