Thirty-four years ago my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was detected on a mammogram. The tumor was so small it couldn't be felt, and she had a mastectomy within a few weeks. All was well until she hit her 5-year mark. She had a bone scan and discovered her back pain was not due to osteoporosis, but cancer that had infiltrated her bones. She died 25 years ago from breast cancer. My sons, her grandchildren, were only 2 and 5 at the time. They never had a chance to know her. In September 2023 I will be walking 60 miles in 3 days for the Susan G Komen 3-Day. I walk for her, and for everyone I have known who has been diagnosed with breast cancer, and for those who will be diagnosed in the future.
Breast cancer has touched all of our lives.
Please support me as I commit to this incredible challenge. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. It will be hard, but it's not as hard as breast cancer. It's not as hard as chemo. It's not as hard as getting bad news at your latest scan. It's not as hard as saying goodbye. And that's why I know I have to do this. That's why I commit. That's why I'm walking and why I'm raising money to end breast cancer forever.
