Hello, I’m Kayla. I am part of the Susan G Komen Chicago 3-Day Youth Corps. The Youth Corps is a group of kids ages ten to sixteen who are too young to walk or crew, but still wish to join the battle against breast cancer. The event takes place over the course of three days and there are people who walk sixty miles, twenty each day. They can't do all this walking without help from the crew, youth corps, volunteers, and more! The crew is a large group on the event doing all sorts of things such as hosting and managing pit stops, helping out walkers along the route, helping get things situated back at camp and more. Of course, what would walkers do without their cheerleaders along the route? That's where the Youth Corps comes in. Our goal as the Youth Corps is to demonstrate the power of young people to make a difference and to enrich the experiences of all 3-Day participants. At the event, we assist at pit stops, clean up around the event, support the amazing crew members, cheer on incredible walkers, and much more. The lives of nearly everyone on Youth Corps has been impacted by breast cancer in one way or another. We fight on behalf of those we’ve lost and those who are still battling breast cancer to this day. We fight, not just for those close to us, but for men, women, and children everywhere. Here at the 3-day, we work toward a future where no one will ever have to receive the news that they or a loved one have been diagnosed with breast cancer, a future with no worries over how gas for transportation to and from treatment will be afforded, and above all, a future where we never have to watch such a terrible disease take away the people we love. Every 3-day event brings us a step closer to this future, as well as every participant, and every donation. I hope you will join me in the fight against breast cancer and become part of this movement toward a brighter future by making a donation. Thank you so much in advance!
