Thank you for considering your support of me as I commit to completing the Susan G. Komen 3-Day, 60-mile walk in memory of our sweet daughter Melissa and her legacy. Melissa passed away on November 21, 2019 of metastatic breast cancer at the very young age of 36 leaving behind so many people who loved her deeply including her husband Brock and two young daughters Presley age 6 and Blakely age 4. She with great faith, hope and optimism fought up until her last breath not wanting to leave them alone.
Melissa was an angel on earth who, even before she was diagnosed, professionally counseled women going through radiation treatments and led teams in walks for the cure of breast cancer. After her diagnosis she then served as a spokesperson and board member of the Houston Chapter of the American Cancer Society. Melissa later described her calling on earth as "I feel my purpose in life is to give hope to others and having breast cancer is a big part of that journey". Melissa also had a special heart for at-risk children and teenagers counseling those who had been abused, cutters and having suicidal tendencies. She previously counseled the most needy of our population that included the homeless and mentally challenged while at MHMR.
The timing of this year's walk will be very special for me as the 3-day walk will end on November 21, 2021 the second anniversary of her passing. Any amount of support is greatly appreciated!!!
