To my friends and family,
I am forever grateful that you have supported me over the past several years. I'm embarking on my 11th Susan Komen 3-day walk to once again raise money for breast cancer. I still remember the first year I did the walk, I thought I'll do it once and then it's the end of it, well now it;s 11 years later I have no intention of stopping until we see a cure for this disease that has taken our friends, family and loved ones.
The Susan G. Komen 3-Day® is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. It will be hard, but it’s not as hard as breast cancer. It’s not as hard as chemo. It’s not as hard as getting bad news at your latest scan. It’s not as hard as saying goodbye. And that’s why I know I have to do this. That’s why I commit. That’s why I’m walking and why I’m raising money – to end breast cancer forever.
Here are the stats for 2020, an estimated 276,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 48,530 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer. About 2,620 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in men in 2020.
Because of supporters like each of you here's what has been done, the funds raised have helped Komen‘s mission to save lives from breast cancer, by investing more than $1 billion in breakthrough research and more than $2.2 billion to support people and communities most at risk through programs to provide access to screening, treatment assistance, patient navigation and education.
In 2021 even with all that the world is experiencing with Covid the Susan G. Komen organization was able to raise over $12 million to support breast cancer research and programs.
Please consider supporting me once again.
