I am looking for partners in an adventure. As most of you know, the Susan G. Komen 3Day is very important to our family. We all have projects and passions which touch us and drive us. The 3Day is one of mine.
I have been on the Route Safety crew for four walks now, including my most recent one in Boston. I average 70 miles on a bike and another 30 miles of walking as we support the walkers who are going 20 miles per day. We keep them safe from traffic. We distract them when they hurt. We listen to their stories of how breast cancer has effected their lives and the people they love. We hug. We high five. We swear and we smile. It has become the most rewarding thing I do each year. I have developed great friendships with so many people, from so many places.
Which brings me to my next step. Literally. I have registered for the 2020 San Diego event, as a walker. I was invited by a friend and I am rising to the challenge. I want to know how it feels to be on their side of the event. I want to prove to myself I can do it. I want to continue to support the cause.
I need to raise $2300 to get the opportunity to blister my feet, feel my age, and enjoy the beauty of San Diego by foot. Will you help me?
Less than 10% of the walkers are men. A very small group. I will be one of them.
I have committed to you and those you love. I have committed to random strangers. I have committed to a world without breast cancer. I ask for your support in helping me on my journey.
Check with your employer on their matching programs. We can maximize donations through those programs. If you donate directly to me, I can submit it and get a match of .50 on the dollar.
Please reach out with any questions. I appreciate your consideration.
