I started this walk in 2016 as a personal goal to walk 60 miles while also doing some good. After that very first year, it became so much more to me than just physical accomplishment and "do-gooding". Aside from forming life long bonds with my teammates, I saw first hand how money is used, how people are effected and why I needed to do this again...and again....
In 1996 my father passed away of colon cancer. I graduated middle school and then highschool without him cheering me on. I got married without him walking me down the aisle. I had children without getting to call him "Grandpa" and I have become an adult without him. I can't bear the thought of leaving my children behind or another woman leaving her children behind because of cancer that effect 1 in 8 women. 1 in 8!!!
I honestly believe that when we find the cure and cause of one cancer, the rest will fall right behind it. Susan G. Komen has pledged to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. by 2026. THAT is a number I can get behind.
So please help by making a donation or even joining me in Seattle in September 2018 for 60 miles of an experience you will NEVER forget.
