Family and Friends:
I first want to thank you for taking the time to read this.
It was 20 years ago this past January that I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 42. I remember it like it was yesterday, going in for my annual mammogram and being called into the radiologist room to tell me what he saw on the film; a lump and it appeared that it was cancerous.
I was told that my lump was so deep I probably wouldn’t have known about it until it began to hurt and I would be more than likely I would have likely lost a breast.
I had 4 cycles of chemotherapy and 28 cycles of radiation. I had decided at some point that I wasn’t going to allow the cancer to tell me when I was going to lose my hair but instead I had a head shaving party!! I wore my bald head as my badge of honor for those going through treatment and those that are not here to tell their story.
Besides skin cancer, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women. In 2017, it's estimated that about 30% of newly diagnosed cancers in women will be breast cancers.
So this year I am challenging myself to the Susan G. Komen 3-day 60 mile walk. It will be held on Sept 14-16, 2018 in Seattle. I have done this walk twice before and I can tell you it is one of those pivotal events in my life that I will treasure forever. This event is not easy, but I promise you I would not be doing it again if I didn’t believe 100% that it was worth every muscle ache, sweat and training walks.
Please consider foregoing one evening out and spending the money that will affect someone you love or know in your lifetime. I need your help. I have committed to raising $2,300.00 to participate in the walk. My hope is to surpass that amount to help fight breast cancer.

update on fund raising and training
I thought it was time for me to post a update on how my fund raising and training is going. It is still a little early to get really serious about my training, however I am still doing my normal amount of walking everyday.
My fund raising is going great!! Thank you Thank You!! I have been able to raise $870.00 !!
So folks have asked me why have I sent out my donation requests so early when the walk is out in September? There are a couple of reasons:
1. I wanted to get a jump start before other walks asked for money!!
2. If I can get the donation portion of this challenge done, it is one less thing I have to worry about.
3. Because I am a Virgo and that is just how I roll!!!
I want to thank ALL of you for your supporting me on this walk, it is a challenge but I am so ready for it...
I will be doing more updates along the way so look for them !!
