Cancer. Few words have the power this one does to strike fear in the hearts of those that hear it. Once heard from a doctors mouth the rest of the discussion is simply "blah blah blah" as your brain scrambles to make sense of what it just heard. Cancer? That can't be what (s)he said. And sometime shortly thereafter the tears start.
I am a 19 year cervical and uterine cancer survivor. Somewhere in all that blah blah I was given a 24% chance of survival. And yes, there were tears. But there was also early detection, talented medical intervention and an incredible support system of friends and family. I am truly blessed. I am also d@mn lucky.
The money you donate funds education, early detection, research and so much more. It helps someone facing the scariest moment of their life know that they are not alone. That someone they'll never meet cared enough to help. Far too many tears have already been shed. Please help more stories have a happy ending.
