In December of 2017, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. In an instance, my whole world was turned upside down. I was heartbroken at the thought of all the things my mom was going to have to go through. I knew what her road ahead was going to be like because I have had so many friends who had parents diagnosed with some form of cancer (some who are no longer with us) and I didn’t want to face the things they had faced. Immediately, I knew I had do something. The first thing that came to mind was the Susan G Komen 3-Day walk. This walk has been a part of my family my whole life. You see, my grandmother was also diagnosed with breast cancer many years ago and my mom walked for her. A family friend in Washington, Tina, asked my mom to walk with her team all those years ago and now I will get to walk with Tina and her daughter (one of my best friends who I have known since the 5th grade). I wanted to be a part of something like this for so long - my mom’s diagnosis finally gave me the push to do it. This walk has meant so much to me my whole life and I can’t wait to be a part of it!
My goal is to raise $3000 which will allow me to take part in the November 3-Day walk in San Diego. I will be walking with one of the top teams in the country, the Valley Girls and Guys. This team has raised millions to educate and fight breast cancer. They inspire thousands across the country by providing support and hope to those fighting cancer.
Please help me in fundraising for this amazing event! Thank you!
