After completing 2 Komen walks in 2016 and 2017, I am more convinced than ever that I have made a difference in funding research grants, screening and breast cancer awareness education. In 2016, our San Diego walkers raised over $8 million and in 2017, $6.5 million. This effort is hard, takes months of committed training and fundraising, and allows me to do something to end this horrible disease, sadly affecting so many families. Watching my mother, Nancy, suffer through treatment after treatment, robbing her of the use of her limbs and vocal cords, taste and the ability to walk, compels me to take action toward finding the cause, prevention and one day, a cure to breast cancer.
Please support me as I take on an incredible challenge to make an impact in the fight to end breast cancer. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day® isn’t just a 60-mile walk over the course of three days—it’s a journey to the end of breast cancer. In 2016, Komen announced a Bold Goal—to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. by 2026. That’s why I’m walking, and raising money—to make that goal a reality.
