As many of you already know, I'm a 3-day, 60 mile walker for Susan G. Komen. I will be walking in my 5th 3-day, this November, and I can't wait to hit the pavement! Soon I will have 300 miles for the cure under my belt! As many of you know, each walker is required to raise $2300, and your support and prayers mean the world to me. I'm trying to hit $12,000 lifetime dollars to Komen, this year, so I've set my goal at $2800.
I started walking for Komen in honor of my Aunt Peggy, who I lost to breast cancer on December 30, 2012. I continue to walk because I believe there is still hope for ground breaking research and access to community programs. Each year I do this, I see people getting their lives back because of Komen. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that?
Komen believes that as many as 1/3 of men and women dying from breast cancer could live if they simply had access to timely medical care. Komen is the 2nd largest funder of breast cancer research, second only to the US government. By pouring money into research, Komen plans to reduce the death rate of breast cancer by 50% in the next decade. I want to be a part of saving those lives. I will walk as long as my legs are able, because I know it's making a difference. If I can help someone not to say good-bye too soon, my steps are not wasted.
Thank you for continuing to support me on this journey. I believe every single step makes a difference in the life of someone, and your prayer, encouragement, and giving help to do that.
Blessings to you,
