I am excited to share that this November I will be participating in my 4th official Susan G. Komen 3-day breast cancer walk. Last year I took a bit of a hiatus due to working weekends with a new job but I simply couldn’t keep away from this organization. I ended up walking one day, Saturday, because I missed my Komen family too much. I was definitely underprepared with my training last year so I am getting back into it early this year. I am also working hard to recruit some new team members including a few close friends. Throughout the past few years I have raised over $13,000 for Susan G. Komen and the fight against breast cancer. That is incredible and it’s all thanks to you! I simply could not do this without all of your generous support so whether you support by donating, attending a fundraiser, sharing a post, or coming out to the event to cheer on the walkers thank you!
It is estimated that 40,000 women and 430 men will die this year from breast cancer. Let’s work together to lower these statistics and eventually find a cure! The grants provided by the Susan G. Komen organization are responsible for making breast cancer survival rates among the highest of all cancers. Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds raised by the Susan G. Komen 3-Day help support Komen’s Research and Training Grant Program and large public health outreach programs for women and men facing breast cancer. The remaining 25 percent helps fund local community and Affiliate support and outreach programs.
I have no direct connection to breast cancer it has not touched my family or loved ones but I make this huge commitment to walk, fundraise, and train so that it never will. One person is all it takes to start something huge and Nancy Brinker proved this when she started this charity in memory of her sister. I walk because I can and because everyone deserves a lifetime. Whether Susan G. Komen is meaningful to you or you would like to support my passion for this journey please help me by donating anything you can for the courageous women/ men struggling with breast cancer every day. In order to participate I must raise a minimum of $2300 in addition to my enrollment fees so I need your help! All donations are tax deductible. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
