Three years ago, I was in a neurologist/orthopedic office having my back checked when the nurse started crying and asked me if I participate in the Susan Komen 3 Day (I had one of my 3 Day shirts on as I do many days of the year). I told her my sister started our team the Bouncin’ Buckeyes and we do everything we can to fundraise each year to find a cure. I asked her why she was crying and she said that she had breast cancer in 2010 and was diagnosed right after she lost her job. When she spoke to the oncologist about just losing her job and not having insurance or COBRA the doctor told her to call the Susan Komen Foundation. She did and she said that the Susan Komen Foundation made sure that she would be able to have the treatment that she needed and to not worry about the financial part of it. She’s cancer free and not in debt due to the foundation helping her. This is one of the many reasons that I fundraise for this organization. My Mom is a 14 year survivor. She had a mammogram in the parking lot of her old employer in a mobile mammography unit - another endeavor that this Foundation supports financially. Shortly after that is when the Bouncin’ Buckeyes were formed. So many reasons why I support this organization and the drive to end cancer completely.
Please support me as I take on an incredible challenge to make an impact in the fight to end breast cancer. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day® isn’t just a 60-mile walk over the course of three days—it’s a journey to the end of breast cancer. In 2016, Komen announced a Bold Goal—to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. by 2026. That’s why I’m walking, and raising money—to make that goal a reality.
Thank you for your support and generosity!!!
