Please support the Youngerman family in Karen’s honor as they continue to take on this incredible challenge to make an impact in the fight to end breast cancer.
Karen was so happy when she was at a 3-Day event, walking(she walked a 60 mile walk 7 times), crewing, or walker stalking just to cheer on the walkers. The 3-Day was Karen's happy place.
Karen was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003. That was the beginning of the fight for Karen and her family. With 3 young children she was courageous in her battle. She always had a positive attitude, an "I can beat this" spirit. She was diagnosed with cancer again in 2011, but her courage and spirit never faltered. In 2015 she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer and she still maintained her positive way of thinking, never giving in to the cancer. On December 29, 2017 Karen lost her fight against breast cancer.
We must never give up. We must keep up the fight. We must do all we can. We must do this so other families do not have to suffer like Karen's family has, so other people do not have to live with breast cancer. We must beat this evil beast!
The Susan G. Komen 3-Day® isn’t just a 60-mile walk over the course of three days—it’s a journey to the END of breast cancer. In 2016, Komen announced a Bold Goal—to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. by 2026. Karen fought to end breast cancer. We want to continue this fight-to make that goal a reality.
