Why do I walk you ask? So that one day we will never have to worry about CANCER.
My family has had their share in the fight against cancer with my Grandmother and several Aunts who are Breast Cancer Survivors, my mother is a Survivor, my mother-in-law who is living with Metastatic Breast Cancer, my own personal fight with “aggressive precancerous lesions”, and several loved ones who have gained their wings due this awful beast. Cancer has not only affected my family but friends as well with several who are Survivors and, sadly, some who have gained their wings. Each step I take is one-step closer to finding a cure so that we no longer have to worry about loved ones being a Survivor or gaining their wings.
I began walking in 2014 with The Ta-Ta Sisterhood and am so fortunate to be a part of The 3-Day ‘Pink Bubble’ Family. Lifelong friends (family really) - each with a story, all are the most passionate, caring, determined people I know. Walking 60 miles is not an easy task and anyone who knows me – knows the battles that I have fought over the years, but I will NOT GIVE UP. In 2016, I was thrilled when my youngest son, Aiden, told me that he wanted to enter the Pink Bubble. That year he was selected to participate in the Philly Youth Corps – and to see him on route made me so proud. He has also become very passionate about the cause and participated in the Philly Youth Corps in 2017 (Hoping for 2018 too!). I have logged countless miles between training and as a walker, crew, volunteer, and as a walker-stalker. Without the love and support of my friends and family, participating and spreading awareness would be difficult.
Please support me as I take on this incredible challenge to make an impact in the fight to end breast cancer. I will NEVER give up!
