As many of you know, I love shoes and when I say I love shoes, I LOVE SHOES! What I love more than shoes is the ability to walk in my 9th Susan G. Komen 3 Day for the Cure.
I lost my wonderful mother on January 21, 2012 to breast cancer after a 4 year battle. My mother's breast cancer was incurable but through research we had access to treatments that had only been available for several years. Because of these treatments I had my mother for 4 more years. She was able to see two grandchildren graduate from college; two grandchildren get married and welcomed two beautiful great-grandsons. My mother's death is a huge loss for me and my family, but, I am so glad we had the extra time due to treatment to have her with us. I was diagnosed with colon cancer in December 2010 and while recuperating from that surgery found a lump in my breast and was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. My mother was devastated for me and fortunately, I had a bi-lateral mastectomy in March of 2011 and have been cancer free since that time. I need to know that research continues and a quest for the cure is kept on so that others can keep their mothers, daughters, aunts, nieces protected from this disease.
I walk in memory of my mom, and the many others that lost their fight in this battle. I walk for those fighting the fight right now and for so many that have been recently diagnosed and continue the battle. I know the money we raise will support research to finding the cure and sparing another family the loss of their loved one to breast cancer.
The Cup Crusaders will be walking in Philadelphia again.
I've agreed to raise at least $2,300 in donations. So I NEED (really, really need) your help. Would you please consider making a donation?
Keep in mind how far I'm walking (again, in “adorable” sensible shoes-not wearing socks, though) - and how hard I'll have to train.
Just use this link to visit my personal fundraising Web page and make a donation.
Please consider donating to this cause. With every step I take I will carry your mother, your sister, your nieces and daughters with me as we raise money to cure breast cancer.
I thank you in advance for your generosity and your support!
