It's that time of year again...and I'm beyond excited to lace up my shoes and hit the pavement with one goal in mind: ENDING BREAST CANCER. I can not think of what better way to show my support and raise awareness and funds for such an important issue. I do not think I've met someone who does not have a connection to this aweful disease.
The Komen community has meant so much to me over the years. I do not know what I would do without my beloved friends that I have met while participating in the 3-day events. More so, I know there are breast cancer survivors who would most certaintly not be here without Komen. Whether its from the research that Komen has funded that has found new cures, or the free mamograms that Komen has funded that have given early diagnosis and therefore critical time to beat this disease.
I'm hoping to participate in two walks this year, with the plan to not walk just 60 miles in 3 days, but to walk 120 miles in 6 days! I'm hoping to raise enough funds to walk with my beloved team, The Cup Crusaders, in both Philly and San Diego! Additionally, I have signed up to RUN my first FULL MARATHON in January and intend on running it in honor of Susan G. Komen, and hope to raise additional awareness of the cause!
I walk to honor my Grandmother and God mother; both survivors. I walk for all survivors out there. I also walk for those who have not made it, and I walk for all those diagnosed in the future. With your help, we WILL end this.
It is with a heavy heart, that I report the passing of my good friend, team captain, and team mate, Heather Morse. On June 4th 2018, after a long battle with breast cancer, she earned her pink wings and joined other friends up in heaven. This disease MUST be stopped.
Thank you for your continued support!!
