After walking the San Diego 3-day last November and getting a stress fracture in the process, I didn't think I would pick-up my walking shoes for a few years. I was wrong and I'm signed up as a 1-day walker for the Philadelphia Komen 3-Day.
On September 30 I'll walk 20 miles in Philadelphia as part of the Friends with Hearts team. Normally I would be driving a 12 person passenger van through South Philly but the timing of the event and my wallet is limiting my involvement this season. However, I will finally get to eat a real cheese steak (w/o wiz, I'm a provolone person).
This cause and this event still remain just as important to me as the first 20 times I've participated. Your continual support and encouragement has ment so much to me going into my 11th year and 21st and 22nd events.
Cancer has been around for multiple milenias but with your conintued support and Komen's current funding of 300 research grants around the country, we can find a cure.
Please support me as I take on an incredible challenge to make an impact in the fight to end breast cancer. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day® isn’t just a 60-mile walk over the course of three days—it’s a journey to the end of breast cancer. In 2016, Komen announced a Bold Goal—to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. by 2026. That’s why I’m walking, and raising money—to make that goal a reality.
