Well Here I am again, preparing to participate in my 6th Breast Cancer 3-day. Last year I walked with my amazing daughter Skyler in honor of her beloved Nana who passed away in September 2005 from Breast Cancer. Last years walk was one of the most rewarding walks I had ever participated in and not just because I did with my daughter but we also because we joined a team of wonderful women whose mission is to end Breast Cancer. I not only walk in honor of my mother in-law, but I walk for friends who have won their battle, as well as those fighting right now!! Breast Cancer has to end and I want to be a part of that!
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide and the second-most common cancer overall. In 2016, an estimated 246,660 cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in the U.S. alone. 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime!! That’s too many and my daughter shouldn’t have to worry about whether or not she will have to fight Breast Cancer in her lifetime. So we will walk in honor of those who lost their battle, like my mother in-law Gail Marie Palmer. We will be a voice and stand up and say we need a cure!
Please support me as I take on an incredible challenge. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day® isn’t just a 60-mile walk over the course of three days—it’s a journey to the end of breast cancer. Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds raised by the 3-Day® help support Komen’s Research and Training Grant Program and large public health outreach programs for women and men facing breast cancer. The remaining 25 percent helps fund local community and Affiliate support and outreach programs.
From the bottom of my heart I thank you for your support!
