You can run but you cannot hide!
Yes, you have guessed it…. I am Back…. tennis shoes, pink cowboy hat, tutu and all.......It is 3-Day time again, but not only in DFW, I added Michigan and San Diego. You guessed it, this year I am making my statement bolder by walking 3 events and crewing 4. That makes 7 cities! This year marks 11 (yes I said 11) years cancer free and I decided to celebrate by participating in all 7 cities. This is my statement! Watch out, I am Passionate and I am Committed!
CANCER, YOU HAVE MESSED WITH THE WRONG WOMEN!
Did you know, one person is diagnosed with breast cancer every three (3) minutes in the United States? That's a pretty startling statistic. Each time I hear of someone passing away or someone newly diagnosed with cancer (any cancer) it angers me. No, it pisses me off! No one should have to face this disease, no one should have to hear those words, "you have cancer". So, this is my thing, I want to see a world without breast cancer. NO let's shoot for it all, I WANT TO SEE A WORLD WITHOUT CANCER! I figure if we can understand and unlock the mysteries of one, it will lead to the next and the next and the next........CAN YOU IMAGINE?
For my part, I walk in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure. It is a 60-mile walk over the course of 3 days that raises funds for breast cancer research and community programs. Each participant is required to raise a minimum of $2300 in order to walk. In the past 11 years you have helped me raise over $40,000. . Let's face it, YOU ROCK!
WE ARE MAKING A STATEMENT!
As most of you know, this battle became very personal for Tom and me in February of 2007. Life is unpredictable but good and Tom and I are blessed with family and friends who were with us every step of the way. We are so grateful for each and every one of you and I am so excited to let all know.....
I AM AN 11 YEAR SURVIVOR!
Walking 60 miles is not easy and words cannot begin to describe my incredible experiences or the wonderful people I have met along my journey, talk about stories of courage and hope. I will keep walking until this beast is no longer a threat. I would not be doing this if I did not believe 100% that it is worth every muscle ache, training walk, early morning stroll, hot afternoon mileage in the Texas heat and humidity (yes that is me) pink porta-john, blister, laughter , tears (joy and sadness and every emotion in between), and sore tired feet......
I WALK TO PASS IT FORWARD!
Please support me as I take an amazing journey in the fight to end breast cancer! The Susan G. Komen 3-Day™ is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds raised by the Komen 3-Day help fund national research and large public health outreach programs. The remaining 25 percent helps fund local community and Affiliate support and outreach programs. Words can never begin to describe my deepest appreciation for all of your support.
I appreciate your continued support. I'll add your name (along with the names of all my donors) to my waist pack in the form of a ribbon, so you will be a part of journey each step along the way (minus the sore tired feet). Tom and I thank each and every one of you for all of your support, for without you none of this would be possible.
THEY SAY NOTHING IS MORE POWERFUL THAN AN IDEA WHOSE TIME HAS COME. THE TIME IS NOW
