Lung cancer took my mother.Stomach cancer took my father. Ovarian cancer took my sister. I have family and friends who are breast cancer survivors. I have grandchildren.
Those are just some of the reasons for becoming involved in the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer 3 Day.
My first walk was in New York City in 2004. Since then I have walked in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2016.
I walk and talk to people about cancer and how it takes money for research, diagnosis and treatment.
And as long as there is cancer in the world I will walk. And when I can’t walk anymore, I will find other ways to keep fighting this beast.
Please support me as I take on an incredible challenge to make an impact in the fight to end breast cancer. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day® isn’t just a 60-mile walk over the course of three days—it’s a journey to the end of breast cancer. In 2016, Komen announced a Bold Goal—to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. by 2026. That’s why I’m walking, and raising money—to make that goal a reality.
