Please support me as I take on an incredible challenge to make an impact in the fight to end breast cancer. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day® isn’t just a 60-mile walk over the course of three days—it’s a journey to the end of breast cancer. In 2016, Komen announced a Bold Goal—to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. by 2026. That’s why I’m walking, and raising money—to make that goal a reality.
I walk for those who can't. I walk in honor of those who fight. I walk to remember those who lost the battle. I walk for my Grandmother, my Mother, my Sisters, my Friends. Through this journey I have been taught the value of life and friends.
I walk for my great friend, Joanne Franzenburg, who was taken from us in 2015 and way too early in her life, #gogo4jojo! This is the hardest journey I have ever made in my life. It is the exact same 60 miles I walked with her so many times and now I have to walk it in her memory. Until Jojo left us, everyone I had ever known with breast cancer fought and won, and lived to tell the story. Now the pain in my heart is almost unbearable, I do not want to walk in rememberance of anyone else, so LET US FIND A CURE!!!
I walk with one of my closesest friend's, Amanda Richardson. Her mom, Darlene Stewart, was diagnosed over eight years ago. She has to be one of the strongest women I have ever met and continues to fight every day. The strides we have made in finding a cure has allowed her to go from being told she would not see Christmas eight years ago, to being an active participant in her children and grandchildren's lives. She meets us along the route with the biggest, warmest smile and cheers us on at the finish line. She is not cancer free, but continues to fight every day and has made huge strides to living life to the fullest. Hopefully, we will be able to make even further strides, so that one day soon, she can say that she is cancer free.
I walk in honor of my MOM, Sheila Magee, who was diagnosed with bile duct cancer in 2014, and though this walk is for breast cancer, I know that if we find a cure, it will be in the name of all cancers and we will WIN the FIGHT! Thankfully, I can say, that my mom is now cancer free. However, I continue this fight so no one will else will have to go through the treatments and hell that she did fighting for her life.
2018 will mark my 11th walk of 60 miles. I have logged well over 600 miles on my little feet during the event alone, not to mention the hundreds of training miles that have been put in to get there. This year I will breach 700 miles and have raised well over $25,000 in support of the cause. Together we continue to raise awareness and funds for research and a cure. Please support me.
Please support me as I continue this amazing journey in the fight to end breast cancer!
The Susan G. Komen 3-Day™ is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds raised by the Komen 3-Day help fund national research and large public health outreach programs. The remaining 25 percent helps fund local community and Affiliate support and outreach programs.
I love you all and appreciate you unconditional love and support for this cause that is so dear to my heart.
