"I've recently learned that in an average lifetime, a person walks about 65,000 miles. That's two and a half times around the world. I wonder where your steps will take you. I wonder how you'll use the rest of the miles you're given." ~Fred Rogers
It's hard to believe, but 2017 marks the 10th anniversary of the passing of my dear friend, Karen. It seems like forever and just yesterday all at the same time.
Right after I walked in 2007, I sent an invitaton to several people who knew Karen to see if they wanted to join me for the 2008 Atlanta 3-Day. A few people told me I was nuts, and a few people took me up on that offer. We had an incredible time celebrating Karen that year.
From that experience, and because of Karen, I rekindled an old friendship and gained a new one. Last year, in 2016, Dayna, Michelle and I took on the San Diego 3-Day, and Amigas! was born! I consider these two some of the greatest gifts I got from Karen. We had such an incredible time, we decided to walk again together in 2017.
The 3-Day is about kindness, strength, hope, fun, celebration, and doing more than you ever thought you could. Anyone who doesn't believe that a small group can make a big difference has never participated in a 3-Day! I am fortunate to be able to participate in this event, which brings out the very best that humankind has to offer.
I hope that you will consider supporting me on this incredible journey. The money raised will benefit Susan G. Komen to fund research, scientific programs and community-based breast health and education programs for women and men facing breast cancer. Since 2007, you have helped me raise $24,000 in the fight to end breast cancer. Together we have made a difference in countless lives.
Thank you for your generosity. I'm incredibly lucky to have people like you in my life!
With so much love and gratitude,
