In 2010 I was diagnosed with and treated for breast cancer. In 2016 I had a conversation with a coworker (Angie L) that inspired me. While I had thought about participating in the breast cancer 3 day walk before, I had never taken action. She has participated in many walks in the Twin Cities and San Diego and raised a lot of money for breast cancer research. Hearing about her experiences and all of the women she walks in honor and memory of, made me want to join her team. I am so thankful for Angie L and all of those that have walked and raised money before me, I’m sure it played a part in the treatments that I received, treatments that worked for me!
It is time for me to give back and raise money to continue the research, because way too many people have been affected by breast cancer. I want to walk because I can, for those who are not able to participate, for those that are currently fighting the disease, for those who have lost their battle, and so that my children and their children may never have to.
Please support me as I take on this incredible challenge. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day® isn’t just a 60-mile walk over the course of three days—it’s a journey to the end of breast cancer. Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds raised by the 3-Day® help support Komen’s Research and Training Grant Program and large public health outreach programs for women and men facing breast cancer. The remaining 25 percent helps fund local community and Affiliate support and outreach programs.
