I am getting a late start this year, but know that I need to keep participating in these walks so we can one day put an end to Breast Cancer, so no one has to suffer from this hideous disease. It is hard to believe that my beautiful sister Wendi was taken from us over a year ago. Not a day passes that I don't think of her and wish we could have had "one more day". I still try to imagine how we would spend that day....So many great memories with her, I don't know if I would go back to a favorite place or have it be a place we were yet to experience with each other. My first Komen walk in San Diego, I walked with Wendi and my brother Gregg and I wore a sign on my back that said "Walking with Wendi", at that time she was battling cancer for the second time and was undergoing Chemo Therapy. Last year I walked with family and friends and we walked with a wonderful picture of Wendi on it that read, "Walking Under the Wings of Wendi", after she lost her battle on March 26, 2016. This year I haven't decided what my sign will read, (I would love suggestions)
Thank you to those who have supported me in the past. I hope you will consider donating again this year.
Our growing Hands Up for Hooters team has a hefty goal of raising $300,000.00 this year. Hope we can do it!!!!!
Please consider supporting me as I take on an incredible challenge. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day® isn’t just a 60-mile walk over the course of three days—it’s a journey to the end of breast cancer. Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds raised by the 3-Day® help support Komen’s Research and Training Grant Program and large public health outreach programs for women and men facing breast cancer. The remaining 25 percent helps fund local community and Affiliate support and outreach programs.
