This is our 12th year to participate in the Breast Cancer 3-Day, and our first year to walk in both Atlanta and Dallas. Team members must raise $2300 to participate in the 3-Day, 60-mile walk. It's an endurance event, but more than anything else it's an empowering event. This event gives us an opportunity to take a stand against this terrible disease. Team Tiara is often a top-5 fundraising team for the DFW Breast Cancer 3-Day. To date, we have raised over $1 Million for breast cancer research.
On Team Tiara the "everybody walks" philosophy has held strong since our beginning. Above all else, we make sure ALL the survivors on our team are able to walk -- whether they personally raise their funds or not. We have seen the difference it makes -- more than just the sense of empowerment, but also the knowledge that All These People are walking and fundraising and working for THEM.
In addition to walking in the 3-Day, we work to fund metastatic breast cancer research through Methodist in Houston and Dana Farber in Boston, offering direct support to survivors where possible and a host of other activities,
After 12 years, we're seeing more and more teenagers walking with us as well. These are the kids that have paid the price of breast cancer's wrath and learned that if you want to see a difference in this world sometimes you have to take a stand and make that difference yourself. We feel these kids are going to be the ones who find the CURE for breast cancer. They're smart, they're compassionate, and they are determined to make a difference.
We believe this experience is every bit worth the fundraising we do. We see that in the faces of the survivors on our team. We hear it from other survivors. We lost our Homecoming Queen, Rachel Wickman, to The Beast last month. But you can read what the 3-Day meant to her, in her own words, at the bottom of this page. The dollars raised through the 3-Day go to Research. And that is going to be where the difference is made.
Thank you for helping us make that difference!!
