Every 19 seconds, somewhere in the world, someone is diagnosed with breast cancer. I believe that no one should have to face this disease. I am not a researcher, or a doctor- all I can do to combat this disease is walk. I walk to raise money which funds the research and provides services, detection and adequate care for the underserved.
The Susan G. Komen 3-Day™ is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days.
Most of you know that this is very personal for me. I lost my Aunt Linda to breast cancer over 30 years ago. Since then, my life has been criss-crossed with friends who have lost family members and who have battled back from this disease.
In 2008, just in time for my birthday, I was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer. I am fortunate to call myself a survivor. This November I am celebrating my 8 year cancer-free anniversary.
2017 will also mark my 9th year and my 13th 60-mile walk.
Thank you all for your love, prayers and financial support for this cause every year.
I plan to walk a minimum of two 3-DAY events. God willing, the funds will come in so that I can walk 3 or more. We’ll see. W e simply must find the cure. I believe a cure for breast cancer is a gateway to cures for other cancers. One breakthrough, will lead to many. Imagine a world free of cancer.
Walking 60 miles is hard; training for the 60 miles is hard, raising the money is hard. I walk because everyone deserves a lifetime. I walk because I can.
I hope you can help me support the efforts to cure breast cancer. A small donation and all prayers will be greatly appreciated. If you are making your donation in honor or in memory of someone special, please let me know their name; I will carry their name with me all three days.
