As we reflect on the 2016 team and our 60-mile journey, we are truly amazed by the genuine strength, courage, kindness, support, encouragement and sense of humor we witnessed over the weekend.
Each year we train and walk in this event it takes on new meaning. Walking with long-time friends and cherished family members, establishing new relationships, feeling the loss of folks we shared the road with last year, listening to stories of what brought walkers and crew to the 3-Day, reflecting on our own reasons for being there — it is truly amazing and incredibly emotional.
Everyone on the team agrees that while the 3-Day itself is challenging, our least favorite part of it is fundraising. But you know what? We do it. We do it because we are commited to a world free from breast cancer, and God willing, all types of cancer.
We sincerely appreciate your willingness to consider donating. The generosity of the team's family and friends, combined with the support of our community, helped us raise nearly $63,000 in 2016, and has helped Feet to Beat Breast Cancer raised more than $800,000 since we started in 2005 with just six people.
As has become tradition, we leave you with a favorite quote from Nelson Henderson:
“The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.”
We may never know the individual people whose lives are saved by the money we raised, and our names will not appear in history books for our efforts. We are confident, however, that together we are changing lives, and changing the future. And that is just amazing!
Thank you very, very much for your generous donations and heartwarming support!lease join us as we take on an incredible challenge. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day® isn’t just a 60-mile walk over the course of three days–it’s a journey to the end of breast cancer. We won't stop until breast cancer does.
