Every 19 seconds, somewhere in the world, a case of breast cancer is diagnosed in a woman.
Please support me as I commit to an incredible challenge to join my mom and Aunt Jenny on The Susan G. Komen 3-Day event, a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. I was so inspired by the event last year in San Diego that I decided to lace up again this year to support the men and women affected by breast cancer. This year we will be walking through Chicago to show our support for the survivors, those currently battling breast cancer, and in honor of those who've lost their battle to breast cancer. It will be hard, but it's not as hard as breast cancer, the fears that come along with a cancer diagnosis or the side effects from chemo!
Komen is the world's largest breast cancer organization, funding more breast cancer research than any other nonprofit outside of the federal government while providing real-time help to those facing the disease. Since its founding in 1982, Komen has funded more than $1 billion in research and provided more than $2.3 billion in funding to screening, education, treatment and psychosocial support programs serving millions of people in more than 30 countries worldwide.
Personally, I'm walking in memory of a college friend and sorority sister, Sarah, who lost her battle with brain cancer that metastasized from her breast. I've yet to find someone with as joyous of a laugh as Sarah's or an ability to make everyone in a room feel comfortable and welcome, myself included. Sadly, she left us and her young family too soon.
I'm also walking in honor of my Aunt Jenny who survived her battle with breast cancer. She found Susan G. Komen very supportive with helping her cope with her breast cancer journey. Her continued support for the Susan G. Komen's 3-Day event and my personal desire to eliminate breast cancer, so no other children lose their mom to breast cancer is why I commit. That's why I'm walking and why I'm raising money to end breast cancer forever.
I can't do this without your support! Please consider donating $1-2 dollars or 50 cents per mile to my fundraising page. Your donation will keep me motivated as I continue to rack up the training miles in preparation for the Chicago Susan G. Komen 3-Day walk. More importantly, your donation will fund research and assist families struggling with breast cancer!
I would like to reach my fundraising goal by August 5, 2022, so don't delay! You can donate by following the link below to make an online donation, calling 800-996-3DAY or donate by check, made payable to Susan G. Komen 3-Day. Checks can also be mailed to me and I will submit them with a copy of my personalized donation form. Please also consider that your company may offer to match your donation. No amount is too small!
Thank you for your support! Let's help fund the research to eliminate breast cancer!
