2020 marks my 17th year walking in the Susan G Komen 3-Day for a cure. In 2020 will be walking a total of 3 Susan G Komen 3-Days, in Boston, Chicago and San Diego. This means by year-end 2020, I wll have completed 22 60-mile walks, meaning I will have walked more than 1300 miles to raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer. My passion to help find a cure will continue until we live in a world without cancer.
Why do I walk? In 1997, I was diagnosed with Stage 3b triple negative breast cancer. After a modified radical mastectomy, 6 months of chemo and 35 rounds of radiation, I was cancer free. 1998 begin our Susan G Komen involvement when we created Robb's Ralliers and started to raise funds and awareness as we participated in the Twin Cities Race for a Cure. We've continued to participate every year since! In 2004, I had the opportunity to walk in my first 3-Day walk and was committed to doing more in the fight against cancer. In 2005 after my 2nd walk, I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer again, but this time, it was caught early. Surgery and recovery slowed me down, but it also fueled my commitment even more. Over the years, I've been a survivor, I have had the privilege and honor to meet so many amazing survivors. I have also met many wonderful fighters who are no longer with us, but who left a permanent mark on my heart and I will forever walk in their memory.
This year, I am the only "Robb" walking for Robb's Ralliers since the 3-Day will not be held in the Twin Cities. Our family's commitment is strong and I know each and every Robb Family member will be surrounding me with love and strength as I walk. I am also blessed to be part of an amazing team and am looking forward to experiencing Boston, Chicago and San Diego together.
I am forever grateful for your continued support and your unwavering commitment and encouragement of my journey. I know that I couldn't do this without you. I walk so my daughter doesn't have to hear the words "You have cancer", I walk because I can't walk away, I walk for a CURE!
Always Keeping the FAITH!
With love and gratitude,
