The 3-day Family Keeps Growing.
Welcome to my 3-day page! Every year I talk about the wonderful people who have inspired me to walk, or why I walk. This year (my fifth year) I'm going to be walking for the boys!
That's right, I'm going to be walking for the MEN. The husbands, brothers, fathers, manly-men who watch football and drink beer. You may wonder what I mean when I say that, but believe it or not, Breast Cancer - a woman's cancer - can be found in men also. In fact, one out of every 100 breast cancer diagnoses is one of our guys!
I am also walking for the men who see the other side of a breast cancer battle. They are the men who hold their wives and sisters and daughters hands when it comes time to dealing with breast cancer, through radiation, chemo, surgery, hair loss, and tears. They become our lifeline, our hope, and survivors in a different way. Too often we don't think of the caregivers of cancer fighters when trying to offer our support, and this year I will be walking for those guys.
I am walking for the guys this year, and will be joined by my fiance (who will be my husband as of a week before my 3-day event) as well as my brother, a member of the Youth Corps. My father will be showing his support in his own way, but no less important than anyone else's role. I am walking for the men who are brave enough to wear pink, and do so proudly.
My fiance and I will be walking this year, as part of our honeymoon, and it will be his first year walking. Together we will raise $4600 to walk, and begin our life together with this bold journey. To help us begin our lives on the right foot, we are asking you to donate to this cause. Thank you for your ongoing support!
