Susan G. Komen 3-Day
I am walking in the Susan G. Koman 3-day for my close friend, Stacy.
Please consider donating to this amazing cause! Every $1 counts!! I need to raise $2300 for the walk, but I would LOVE to raise twice as much!
This time last year, my dear friend, Stacy, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She was 37 at the time and had an active 3 year old son and loving husband. She went after the disease with the same determination she goes after everything in life. And, she got what she wanted, what we all wanted: a cancer free diagnosis after going through a vigorous and grueling treatment plan that included a bi-lateral mastectomy and the most aggressive chemo available, followed by 34 radiation treatments. In a couple of weeks, she will be undergoing surgery again, but this time it is reconstruction. She still has a loving husband, and a now active 4-year-old.
Stacy handled this disease with determination and grace. She has undergone all sorts of tests, but the final outcome of how she got breast cancer was what the doctor called a "fluke". Just one of those things. She was healthy and didn't have a genetic link. Just a fluke. Stacy said she believed there was a bigger purpose for her getting this disease. While still healing, she has become involved and dedicated to this disease by joining the board of her local hospital to build a state-of-the-art cancer center. She has asked her friends to walk with her in the Susan G. Komen 3-day in August: her team is 15 women strong! Instead of the minimum team amount we have to raise of $34,500, we have upped the amount we will raise to $40,000. We are almost halfway there, and just started in February! Stacy also believes there will be additional opportunities for her to make a difference, and this is just the beginning!!
Are you as impressed by Stacy as I am? She is an amazing woman. And that is an understatement. I should also add that Stacy has done all this, while caring for her mother who has a rare form of terminal brain cancer.

Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart!!
